Weekly #3

This week we went to the coolest high school I’ve ever been to! Pacific School of Innovation & Inquiry lets the student take learning into their own hands. They decide what they want to learn and how in depth. They choose a topic they want to learn about and while researching, would go to specific classes to deepen understanding about the aspects of their topic. Since the students get to choose the topics they learn about they are more likely to be engaged in their learning in all aspects instead of only a couple. It’s a very interesting way to learn and do school. They have teachers that keep track of you to make sure that you are getting things done, but even still I wonder about people (me) who procrastinate and if they can succeed. For myself I know I struggle to set my own schedule ( as you’re aware sorry mike!) and to stick to it. I find that working under the gun isĀ  what makes me do my work in a timely manner. So for that reason I don’t think that sort of school would work for me butĀ  can see it being so important and work really well for some kids. This is for the students that will go down all the gopher holes exploring some topic they are interested in and allowing them to do this.
