Free Inquiry 1: The Plan

I’ve always liked a variety of sports/activities but I never could find time for them all. I have gained a good amount of weight since high school, so physical activities get me really tired and hurting now which definitely makes it hard to motivate myself. This project seemed like a great reason to get back on the horse and commit to building up my physical fitness again and exploring/sharing the sports I love. I’m going to be focusing on two sports that are newer to. This is badminton and bouldering. There is a tournament for badminton on March 21st that I plan to take part in to see my progress  since the start of the semester. No competition for bouldering is planned right now but I’m sure I will in the future once I’ve built up my strength. 

For badminton, I will be measuring my improvement against my classmate Payten, who played in high school and thus far has swiftly Licked my butt every game we have played. Sometimes I will be doing some training alone and during this time I  will be finding some drills and training that I can do alone using youtube videos on skills such as footwork, defence, racket positioning, court positioning and way more. I probably won’t do all those since some are for when you are more advanced. This will all culminate in the tournament which my goal is just to make it past the first round. But ultimately it will be a great experience and show me what I still need to work on.

Bouldering is something I used to do 3 times a week and in the last two years has gone to once every few months maybe. Gaging my improvement is pretty easy since all of the climbs are graded, so if I start to be able to do the harder climbs I know I’m improving. I will also be looking up some technique videos to see what I should work on for my level to help improve my overall performance.
